Just love him

and in turn, love her

(Note, You can also insert I, me, he, she, herself, you, it, that, they, each, few, many, who, whoever, whose, someone, everybody – whatever works for you)

Love him right where he’s at.

Don’t ask him to do things for you out of requirement or expectation or to score points.

Let go of all expectations like ‘he should know I/we need…’ or ‘he should just get it’ or ‘he’s part of this family too’

Ask him to do something for you because it would help you, explain why it would help and if he says he can’t be ok with it.

Love him because he’s him – he’s the one that makes you laugh, the one that makes you cry, the one that holds your hand and the one that chases you around the kitchen. The one that you kiss passionately and the one that drives you mad.

Love him because your life is so much fuller with him in it.

Love him because it’s him you turn to when you need a friend.

It’s him you turn to when you need a shoulder.

It’s him you turn to when you need $100 or a new car or a chocolate bar from the shops.

Love him because he’s him, he’s yours and you’re his.

Love him because no matter what he’s got your back and sometimes he’s human and he stuffs that up but so do you.

No one is perfect, but everyone is perfectly intended – even if its in their own way.

Love him unconditionally, no ifs, buts or maybes, just love him.

Don’t judge him or mock him or make sarcastic comments about him.

Be his best friend, be his best lover, be his best shoulder to cry on, be his person.

Because when you can love him for exactly who he is, you can also love yourself for exactly who you are.

Now re-read this and insert ‘her’ (or your version). Have a conversation with your your inner soul and just love her xo
