Complex Carbohydrates and my brain are best friends. When I chose to take carbs out of my diet all together my body ate itself.

At the time I was working on putting on muscle mass, not losing it, so this had a huge impact on me and I quickly learnt that carbs are so much more than what they seem.

  • Barley (can contain gluten, so if you have issues with gluten look for a gluten free option)

Here are the list of Simple Carbs that I shared in this episode, these are the ones you want to eat less of, so pick one that you want to shift and then switch it with a complex carb, I’ve given you some swap options below:

  • Lollies swap for bliss balls
  • White Bread swap for Wholegrain or wholemeal bread
  • Sugary Cereal swap for Granola with yoghurt or nut mylk and berries
  • Cakes swap for fruit, bliss balls, yoghurt, nuts
  • Cookies swap for fruit, bliss balls, yoghurt, nuts
  • Crackers swap for check out wholegrain and gluten free options
  • Muffins swap for fruit, bliss balls, yoghurt, nuts
  • Chips swap for check out wholegrain options in the chip isle or the health food isle
  • Soft drink swap for water, mineral water, infuse with fruit e.g. lemon, orange, strawberries, watermelon and mint
